Treatment
Simple Excision
The pterygium tissue is removed. However with this technique, there is an almost 50% chance of recurrence.
Conjunctival Autografting
The mass is surgically excised, and the bed is covered by a conjunctival graft harvested either from the same eye or fellow eye.
Amniotic Membrane Transplantation
Transplantation can also be done, which also supplies some growth factors, to prevent the mass from recurring.
